"The Hair Bear Bunch" is a throwback to "Yogi Bear," "Top Cat" and other sitcom/funny animal cartoons that HB did in the early '60s expanding the seven-minute short into a 23-minute episode. This show is traditional Hanna-Barbera with little nods to the '70s, like Hair Bear's afro hairdo and a few other groovy affectations.

Daws Butler voices Hair Bear, not like he played Yogi, but with a more Phil Silvers sound. If you...

Brings back Memories
Hair Bubie and Square are hilarious. And then ol Peevly and Botch are as well. Loved watching this just like it was yesterday I was watching on USA Networks old Cartoon Express

The Hair Bearch Bunch are finally on DVD!!!
It's great to see all 16 episodes of The Hair Bear Bunch released on DVD by Warner Archive shop. If you're either a Hanna-Barbera fan or a child of the 1970s, you'll appreciate this wonderful set for nostalgia purposes and it's another great addition to your Hanna-Barbera Classic Collection!!!

Harley's 5-Factor Workout

Such a good workout!
This is a really good and time efficient workout. I even have my husband doing it. Especially good for those really busy days when I can't get to the gym or outside walking and only have 30 minutes. We've been doing it 4-5 times a week.

It's working!
It's a great workout and easy to get into my daily routine because each day is different. I would recommend it especially for guys who don't want all that hyped-up macho stuff.

Loving this workout DVD...Fast, Efficient and Effective!
I have just complete week one and love this workout DVD. The workouts are easy to follow and you are not rushed through the demonstrations. This is great because it allows you to concentrate on your form and positioning. If you don't have a lot of free time, this is the workout for you. If you don't have them, you should consider getting a yoga mat and 3 and 5 lbs. hand weights.

Foyle's War: Set 4

Have We Been Foyled for the Last Time???
Upon watching the last thrilling episode, in which Foyle confronts the insurmountable stumbling blocks of wartime necessity headlong by tendering his resignation----After all, the Ruhr dams must be busted!----I had to go online to make sure that a new season was coming up. I have become addicted to this low-key but absorbing, instructive, and endlessly entertaining mystery series. And there are still about three years of World War II to go.

As this series continues, the leading characters, Chief Inspector Foyle (Michael Kitchen) and Samantha (Honeysuckle Weeks), become ever more engaging. The settings of Hastings and the Sussex countryside become ever more picturesque. Moreover, as the mysteries become ever more intriguing, the narrative of Britain during the Blitz----the people's hardships, their gallantry, and in many cases their victimization by unscrupulous profiteers----becomes indelibly compelling. The series would make an excellent teaching tool in a history class,...

flawless
From Michael Kitchen to Honeysuckle Weeks to the plots to the scenes, this is as flawless a series of movies as I can remember. Classy, poignant at times, funny.

Conveys the WWII period in England in depth without detracting from the plot. Despite the quality of backstory and the depth of the primary characters, these episodes remain mysteries. Amidst the background of war in England in the forties, Foyle hunts what some might see as petty murders or "just thieves". It reminds me of Night of the Generals, showing the single-mindedness and bulldog grip a police officer can have even though the world around him seems to be crumbling.

An expensive, quality piece of storytelling and movie making.

I have the series-to-date and eagerly wait for more.

Michael Kitchen triumphs again as detective chief superintendent Christopher Foyle.
Michael Kitchen triumphs again as detective chief "superintendent Christopher Foyle. He often identifies himself, however, rather more charmingly: "My name is Foyle. I'm a police officer." No badge is shown or papers presented while so introducing himself. Such would be superfluous though as Kitchen's Foyle, in mannerisms, demeanor, as well as the way his carries himself, makes it rather apparent that he is in law enforcement. And to boot, all this takes place in the early days of the 4th decade of the 20th century, "in the beautiful southern English countryside amid the disorder and danger of World War II"(to quote the packaging).

As in all Foyle episodes a murder takes place and Kitchen methodically goes about solving it. He has a sergeant for assistance as well as an actress side-kick (whose most unusual name in real life is Honeysuckle Weeks) who plays an army soldier seconded to drive for Foyle, who is without a license to do so. Like in many detective dramas the who...

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 (2 Disc Special Edition)

Superb work by Oliva and company
Olivia has crafted a masterpiece with the second half of this epic. While never forgetting that he was in service to the story, Oliva clarified muddy plot points and streamlined Miller's work while remaining true to the sequence of the story STEP FOR STEP. The voice acting was superb, with Weller's weary, resonant baritone serving well in the place of iconic Kevin Conroy.

This two-part feature has become my benchmark for animated interpretation of graphic novels, and has my highest recommendation.

Excellence, Cinematic
Part 2 steps it up, From brutal rendetions Batman's crushing punches, Jokers an omnisexual, truly homicidal killing nightmare to Superman's immense power yet patriotic imbecilic servitude this is the finest adult animation DC has ever produced . Be warned this is violent and bloody with the Joker scenes being painted red with chilling death scenes. The Superman Batman throw down is truly epic and cinematic with a movie quality score. Peter Weller does a fantastic job capturing the hyper intelligent, brooding, serious and pragmatic older man Batman who's burning rage cannot be quenched from his traumatic childhood scarrring.

Superb
I really enjoyed part 2. I couldn't wait to check it out when I saw the initial trailer for it. Hopefully others will enjoy this as much as I did. This will definitely have you wanting more. I will pick up the best buy release when it hit the stores for the joker figurine that comes with it. Very dark, the way batman should be seen. Loved it.

Alice in Wonderland

another bbc success
When I first saw this movie I thought it was made in 2013 it is not, it was made in 1986 but put on dvd in 2013, being filmed in 1986 it does have that stage look that most movies produced by the BBC had in the 80's (think "Chronicles of Narnia). This dvd is a musical and despite being blue on the cover Alice's dress and headband are pink.

I am planning on getting the sequel"Through the looking glass"

A dud
One of the weakest Alice films, this two-hour bore (Admittedly, it originally aired in 4 parts), is slow and stilted, with only the sequence with the Duchess recalling the snap of the book. Unmemorable songs bring everything to a halt. On the plus side, the colors are bright, and there are some nice sets, performances and costumes. This is the only live-action Alice without a single recognizable face in the cast, although I hear that several of the actors were in "Doctor Who". This is second longest ALICE ever made, and it definitely feels like it.

I love it
This was a gift to my daughter as she loves all things that are connected to Alice In Wonderland. She's slowly collecting everything she can of the various movies.

Cheap Pick [HD]

This Show is Like a Great Dessert!
My DVR records every episode of American Pickers and when I see it appear on the list of recorded shows, I save it for when I can relax, sit down, pay attention to every scene, and enjoy a picking trip with "the boys"! This show never disappoints! You not only get to see their banter, share in the meeting of the interesting people and their lives our happy pair meet, but its an educational wander down America's history as they explain, through their narrations, conversations, and through the pop up information which provides even more fascinating facts.

If you've not caught an episode of the show yet, look for "A Banner Pick", I believe its in Season 2...this is one of the best examples of what makes this show so great. Hint: Watch to the end.

My favorite show!
Being pickers ourselves, we can relate to being out in the middle of nowhere, searching for those treasures. Go, Mike and Frank!

Love this show!!
Mike and Frank seem like guys I could hang out with, I enjoy the dynamic of the two of them driving around in the van and the interactions they have with the people they pick. I also love the stories that go along with the treasures that they find. It didn't hurt that I only paid $9.99 for the entire season, Mike, that's what we call "breaking the ice".

Scooby-Doo & The Monster of Mexico [Blu-ray]

Another Fascinating Locale Offers Tricks and Treats for All
The Scooby-Doo movies of recent years have been generally warmly welcomed in our household. They tend to be of two schools: 1) more silly than serious, low on mystery, and catering to a young audience (Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School or Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf come to mind) and 2) more serious than silly, emphasizing mystery, and catering to an older audience (Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island or Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders come to mind). My wife and I enjoy Scooby-Doo and watch it with our children, but we try to stay away from the sillier films. This movie, Scooby-Doo and the Monster of Mexico, looked to be of the more serious variety, so we bought it. Here are my thoughts:

The Animation: The first thing I noticed was that the movie opens with some nice animation eye-candy. (Generally, key scenes seem to begin with some startling visual, such as rippling water or flickering flames.) I thought the quasi-3D animation was a nice change from that seen on some of...

The best Scooby-Doo ever?!
Upon first viewing of this new movie with my five-year-old son, I was prepared to declare it as somewhat disappointing and meandering.

But when the credits rolled, my son looked at me with a big smile and declared, "That was the best Scooby-Doo ever!"

So, what do I know? I bow to his critique and award this movie a full five stars.

Vera Cruz and Mexico City Views by Scooby and the Gang
We (spouse and children and I) just viewed this DVD tonight and are extremely pleased. The familiar "bad-guy-caught-at-the-end" format is used as well as the typical Scooby Doo format of mishaps with the Mystery Machine, food-hungry Scooby & Shaggy, red herrings, ballads, etc. plus a very mild love-interest for Scooby. The clothes and vocals are just like the original series, too.

What really caught our attention was the similar style to the original televsion series when Scooby and the gang visited various locations and learned things about the places they visited. Having visited Vera Cruz and Mexico City, we were struck by the similarities with the cartoon animation of Vera Cruz and Mexico City. We were also pleased to see Mexico/Mexicans portrayed in a positive way rather than as sterotypes.-There is even some basic Spanish used in a way to educate youngsters.

The cupacabra (evil monster/ goatsucker) which frightened tourists from Vera Cruz was a bit dated, but caused us to...

Predator Dinosaurs

An excellent DVD that reveals the most recent dinosaur data...
If you are into dinosaurs, this DVD is well worth getting. The narrator, Bill Oddie, does an excellent job of presenting the most recent dinosaur data within this fine film. There is plenty of CGI footage of dinosaurs that look realistic enough. There is also a lot of experimentation-oriented footage, such as via a fabricated life-size T-rex skull (to test what it could actually crush by regulating the bite force per square centimeter comparable to that of what crocodiles/alligators would have at around the same size); also, the velociraptor's killing sickle toe/claw is analyzed (via mechanical models simulating bone and muscle) to determine what it may have been realistically capable of. Interesting stuff, indeed! The combination of realistic-enough dinosaur computer animations and structured laboratory tests were interlaced with taste; it made for an overall interesting DVD; I was very glad that I had purchased it! Educational and entertaining! Strongly reinforces the fact that...

Dino documentary
There is a growing list of dinosaur documentaries out there. This one is recent and features an upgrade in theories
and animation quality. It focuses on the predator dinosaurs and theories on how they survived for millions of years. I think those that follow palentology will find this a welcome addition to their collection of Dino DVDS. I know I am glad to have it.

Foyle's War: Set 5

All Good Things Must Come to an End
"Foyle's War, Set 5" is now being released to coincide with its Public Broadcasting Service television debut. It is the last of a British historical drama/police procedural series, created and largely authored by Anthony Horowitz (Agatha Christie's Poirot: The Definitive Collection; Midsomer Murders Set 12, for which he deserves our unstinting praise and thanks. It's been just superb, as each episode has combined a mystery, most of them reasonably strong; and solid history, insights into the little-known problems and domestic scandals of the British homeland during the years of World War II. This set of three all new feature-length episodes brings the story to 1945, as the war finally winds down, and Foyle and his team do their best to prepare for uncertain futures. And, thank goodness, the set has been closed captioned.

Michael...

As the war winds down, the mysteries continue
British television has certainly never been at a loss for quality entertainment. With a little care and sensitivity, the average American television viewer can assemble a superb DVD collection by concentrating on some of the splendid British programs exported to America over the years. Shows like Pride and Prejudice, Upstairs Downstairs, Brideshead Revisited and Civilization are just some of exemplary British programs that transcend the notion of mere entertainment. Occasionally, however, there are lesser-known television shows, as splendid as any of the more famous ones, that merit inclusion on that more exalted list but are excluded simply because they haven't had the proper exposure or because they are nominally considered representative of a genre, such as a mystery program. Foyle's War is illustrative of the latter reason for being excluded from the list of the finest British television.

Foyle's War is set in the English coastal town of Hastings, with its historical...

Michael Kitchen - Awesome
There aren't enough words in the English language to describe the excellence of this series. I haven't seen this set yet, can't wait to, but if it's half as good as the other Foyles War, it'll be over the top. Michael Kitchen is fascinating to watch, the stories are interesting and intertwining, and the other characters add dimension.

While it's set during WWII, the stories are personal ones and frequently have little to do with the war itself. If you haven't seen Foyles War yet, do yourself a favor and get started. It's nice to have seen all the episodes from the beginning, but it's not necessary, so don't feel you've missed too much to start it now.

Hellsing Ultimate: Volumes 5 - 8 Collection (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

YES! FInally!
I have been waiting for this for 3 years!! Hellsing Ultimate is by far my favorite anime series ever. The action, story, and characters are just amazing! The subs are good, but this is the best cast of voice actors I have seen overall. Crispin Freeman as Alucard just can not be beat if you ask me. His voice is freaking perfect for him. The others are also amazing. These episodes are when the action just gets beyond intense. A triangle of combat between Hellsing, Millenium, and the Iscariot is just incredible. If you like vampires or action anime check the other episodes out right now! You will be happy you did it. Trust me.

Great Value For The Price
Finally after all these years Hellsing is back on the U.S. market! For those who are coming new to the series, the U.S. branch of Genon went under a few years ago, and they stopped dubbing all of their projects. This pissed a lot of fans off because Hellsing is one of those really memorable dubs where the voice actors really it their parts, especially Crispin Freeman as Alucard, in fact I would go so far as to say Hellsing is the best English dub out there. Anyway Hellsing is back now with most of the original voice actors, now being dubbed by Funimation. This set comes out to about 11$ per movie, and you get the Blu-Ray and the DVD versions in one, great value. The Blu-Ray's are great quality, and the sound quality is crystal clear, it's been a long wait, but it was worth it!

Also it comes with a little cardboard insert so that if you decide to buy the I-IV set, it will slide right into the same box that this set comes with, very nice touch.

It's about time! However...
After waiting for a grueling four years, Hellsing fans finally receive ova's five through eight on blu-ray. Volumes nine through ten will no doubt come out in the third or fourth quarter of 2013. The dub compared to the Japanese audio is very well done but at some points the actors could have tried being louder. I have only two complaints about this blu-ray release. The first is that Hellsing the Dawn episode one is not dubbed. It is only in Japanese with english subtitles. Are you telling me Taliesin Jaffe who is the voice director couldn't find the time to dub the Dawn? That was a disappointment for me.

My last complaint was that Taliesin made the awful and rather, dumb decision to dual voice the characters Alucard, Zorin, and Seras on certain scenes. In the first four ova's the characters did not sound like that so why change them? In disc two in an interview, he stated that he wanted the characters to sound everywhere and not just in one spot. There is no option to...

Trigun: Complete Series Box Set (Classic)

Gun Fun!
Meryl and Milly are two insurance agents with a mission: find Vash The Stampede, a man with a $$60 billion bounty on his head, and stop him from causing any more damage! With a bounty that big and followed by a wake of destruction, Vash must be big, intimidating, and down right scary! Right? To Meryl's constant aggravation and disbelief, Vash turns out to be a friendly, doughnut loving pacifist. Its hard to believe that he has survived this long! But there is more to Vash then meets the eye, and the series starts to turn dark as Vash's past is brought to light.

This is a very entertaining series. The first half is mostly comedic Western style short stories, i.e. Bad guy threatens people and Vash bumbles his way in and saves the day with his amazing gun skills. Vash is one of the best anime characters I've seen and it is lots of fun to watch him save the day. The guy that shares the cover with him is Nicholas Wolfwood, and the two of them are excellent foils to each other...

Hysterical and action-packed...a great anime series!
He's prone to whining, crying and throwing tantrums, but Vash still manages to get the job done! Since I was introduced to Cowboy Bebop a little over a year ago, I've seen many different Anime, and I have to say flat out that Trigun is my favorite. Ironic, considering that Vash the Stampede is the epitome of everything I couldn't stand about Anime before I became a fan, but I actually find Vash to be completely hysterical, and one my favorite anime characters.

Its Wild West meets futuristic Sci-Fi in this anime about a man with names like 'The Humanoid Typhoon' and 'The 60 Billion Double Dollar Man'. Beleived to be the cause of mass destruction wherever he goes, Vash is actually a misunderstood, friendly and peace-loving individual...who is armed to the teeth, with superhuman strength and speed, the sharpest eye on the planet, and a 60 Billion Double Dollar bounty on his head that many are just itching to get their hands on. He hates violence and won't bring himself to kill...

Release date!
Other people have already written better descriptions of this series than I think I can manage but I just want to affirm that this is quite possibly one of the best buys I've EVER had the chance to catch on amazon in a long time. A friend of mine had the original release boxset but I dare say mine is nicer and has even more special features than hers!

ALL 26 ORIGINAL EPISODES are included - there is/was a typo regarding this in the product description stating 24 instead of 26 - with both English/Japanese language and English subtitle settings available and the new boxset also includes textless songs as well as additional trailers.

This is a must have for any serious anime lover and I highly recommend that if you're considering investing in a great series that has high re-watch ability this is one to own! Still not sure? Check out 24 of the 26 episodes on hulu and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Alice Through the Looking Glass (1974)

I think the actress listed here is wrong
This is the 1974 BBC production of Alice Through the Looking Glass, which drew me in as a child on Public Television. The actress playing Alice is Sarah Sutton, who later became famous playing Nyssa on Doctor Who. I think the page should be edited to reflect this.

I love it
I purchased this for my daughter who collects every Alice movie she get her hands on. I am sure she will be enjoying this if she hasn't already watched it.

How many times has Alice been done
I find it interesting just what a movie left in or took out from the book. Each movie adds or takes away from the book just enough to make it something worth seeing .Different actors and actresses add to the movie.

4 Kid Favorites Cartoon Network Hall of Fame 2

Collector or Regular Fan: Who is this set catering to?
The answer is: Both. I, myself, am a collector. This set comes with a rare disc that is no longer being produced by the manufacturer(granted, it's not a hard DVD to come across and you can find pretty cheap, but it will eventually become fairly rare).

This DVD set includes:
-Samurai Jack Season One Disc One
-Courage The Cowardly Dog Season One Disc Two
-Codename: Kids Next Door Mission File One(rare dvd)
-Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends Season One Disc Two

This is a good set for collector's because of the rare DVD and slick packaging. This is also a good set for regular fans who just want a bunch of episodes to relive nostalgia. In fact, this set is GREAT for those kinds of fans. If you grew up from 2000-onward(as that's when these shows aired), then you will absolutely adore this collection.

CN 101
This is the best Dvd ever! For one thing, it includes episodes from super hard to find Dvds like samurai jack, kids next door, and fosters. It is a really good deal considering you are getting 30 episodes plus a couple special features. It includes the second disc from the hall of fame courage the cowardly dog complete first season, the first disc of the seasons of fosters and samurai jack, and kids next door sooper hugest missions vol. 1.

4-Get It !
I think this has gone too far, folks. Even though it's a must for some of you who are late in starting your collection of Cartoon Network classics, "4 Kid Favorites: Cartoon Network Hall of Fame, Volume 2" is somewhat fruitless like the first volume. Then again, a couple of these DVDs are sort of hard to find nowadays, but that's besides the point.

You'll get the following for what you pay for in this set:
- "Samurai Jack - Season One, Disc One"
- "Courage the Cowardly Dog - Season One, Disc Two" (Why not the second disc in the "Johnny Bravo" season one set instead ?)
- "Codename: Kids Next Door - Sooper Huge Missions File One"
- and "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends - Season One, Disc Two"

Well, anyways, I think this stupid series redistribution idea is not very keen to me and maybe you, too. I still want continuations of series already on DVD like "Dexter's Laboratory" and "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" and new sets of shows...

Lost Archives of Candid Camera

This is Candid Camera on The Garry Moore Show
The company on its packaging claims "See the laugh out loud sketches that started it all!" and asserts''When Garry Moore added a segment called Candid Camera to his cutting edge TV show that featured CAROL BURNETT in the regular cast, it spawned a genre of entertainment that thrives more than ever in today's digital age.''

And the editorial review listed here on amazon claims: ''Available for the first time ever CANDID CAMERA's VERY FIRST SEASON''.

The above claims are all blatant lies and misrepresentations.

This is NOT the ''very first season'' Candid Camera was on the air, nor did Candid Camera begin as a segment on Garry Moore's variety show. Candid Camera first appeared on television in the late 1940's and went through a number of changes during its broadcast history, as a regular network series, syndicated series, and as a segment on a variety show. The contents of this DVD all consist of Candid Camera's residency as a sequence on Garry Moore's...

Fun, historic, but deceptively packaged.
This is a SMALL selection of Candid Camera episodes from the Garry Moore show in 1959. As with most Candid Camera shows, it's fun to watch and somewhat educational. It's interesting to see how the show evolves over a few months.

Any product which is deceptively advertised, however, will get just 1 star from me. This product loses on two counts. First, the Amazon description states and the packaging strongly implies that this is the very first season of Candid Camera; in reality, it had been on network television since 1948. Second, when something is published on two DVDs, you'd expect at least three hours of content. This set only runs 90 minutes, which could easily fit on one DVD. It also loses points for including only the first part of a multi-part episode.

The beginning
It was nice to see the original start of Candid Camera on the Gary Moore show before it became a show of it's own. The shows with the children were simply great and the extra with Carol Burnett in a spoof of a Sci-fi show was something else. With all of the garbage on T.V. nowadays, of which I don't even bother with, these type of shows are so refreshing and this is what most of the people really want, but can't get except on re-runs. Gary was a heavy smoker which was normal back in those days, but I noticed that half-way through the season he quit smoking on camera. Good clean family fun for all! +JMJ+

Preschool Is Cool: Abcs With Elmo

My son loves this DVD!
My 20 month old son loves Elmo, Grover, Telly, and their alphabet antics! This is a great DVD to reinforce what your child is already learning about the alphabet. Great songs and skits. One reviewer wrote that the traditional ABC song is not in this DVD but that is completely not true. They sing it at least 3 times. Two of the times is has a slightly "funky" beat but it still has the same meter and sound! Thanks Sesame Street for a great DVD and teaching tool!

Ammmaazzziinnnngg!
I bought this because my daughter loves sesame street. She is only 1 but she loves the music and gets excited when she see's all the characters esp Elmo. I really love that this dvd is repetitive with the abc's songs and in their show segments. All the songs are catchy and the shows are so much fun, it's a great way to teach your kids the alphabet and will be sure to grab their attention everytime! I recommend this to everyone with kids!

2-year old loves this DVD!
We've been working with our 2-year-old on the alphabet for a few months and I wanted a fun DVD that could support our teaching. I'd checked out some other videos from the library but they were painfully boring. Since my son loves Elmo, I was glad when this one came out. It's a great DVD. The sketches are engaging and the songs are very catchy. My son watches it a few times each week. And my husband and I love it too!

Scooby-Doo & The Legend of the Vampire [Blu-ray]

May Actually Be Scooby's Best Movie!
Anyone who knows me, knows that I love King Diamond's records. I loved "Abigail," "Them," "Conspiracy," and "In the Shadows." I thought "Time" was alright, and I felt "Into the Unknown" had its moments. Not knowing what to expect, I bought his "Dead Again," and was shocked at the awesome return to form. I always liked the Scooby series. And I really liked "Scooby Doo on Zombie Island." I thought "The Witch's Ghost" was pretty good. But I was a little disappointed with "The Alien Invaders" and "The Cyber Chase." I thought the live movie was flat out terrible. Not knowing what to expect, I bought this tape.RED LIGHT ALERT! Ah...this may actually be Scooby's best movie! First, it was a charming bonus to get the original voice cast back! 2nd, we are presented with an awesome return to the Scooby Doo formula. In a normal situation, we are presented with the possibility of the supernatural. We also see the gang in Australia. We also get to see how their seeming vacation turns into yet...

Scooby-Doo And The Legend Of The Vampire
Ths Is One of The Bset Scooby Doo Movies I Have ever seen! It starts out when the gang (Daphnie, Fred, Velma, Shaggy And scooby doo) take on Australia for a vacation. But when they find out that the bands are being taken over by the Yowie Yahoo, its another mystery to solve. As always, Shaggy and Scooby are by themselves again when Fred takes Velma and Daphnie when they split up. It is a fun movie to watch, expecially when you get the DVD version of the movie. You enter the special features menu. Click Monster menu and then you can explore the vampire rock that was featured in the movie. It has a menu where you can make your own monster faces by chaging around the body parts. The music is great in this movie! And I think that it is one for the hole family to enjoy. So I would buy the DVD edition so you can enter the cave and have fun!

New Scoobie not at home.
Just recently, a flood of Scooby films have been released, and the latest one was "The Legend of the Vampire." I didn't know how good it would be, since the last two animated scooby-films had been rather a disappointment, but when I heard the original cast was doing the voices, I couldn't stand the wait, so I saw...
Scooby-Doo and the Legend of the Vampire
Here's how it ranked...
Sound: 4/5
Well, unlike the previous films, this film used much of the same music from the original series, as well as a couple songs from previous movies. I think that wasn't what hurt the grade most, but the original songs and such were not all that great either. The ones used in the new scooby series were better, I think.
Graphics: 3/5
I was sorely disappointed with the graphics in this film. We all love the original series, but let's face facts. By today's standards, the graphics were awful, and the biggest difference between those graphics and the ones used in this movie was...

Timothy Spall Somewhere at Sea: Complete Series

Excellent Series!
This is an engaging - if a bit slow paced - series of Timothy Spall and his wife heading around the southern coast of England on their barge. It's a scenic, beautiful show that's a beauty to watch, for the scenery and the bits of history and insight they give.

Timothy and his wife are just normal people that, as he says, enjoy messing about in boats. No snarky comments or rude behavior, and unlike more than a few actors, Timothy is not "on" all the time, which can be really tiring after a few minutes. Little bits of his subtle humor come through now and then, but most of the time he's just a regular guy on vacation. A very enjoyable series that more people should see and enjoy.

Going to sea in a barge - isn't the smartest idea - But I love it!
Timothy Spall and his wife Shane are on a mission to go round the British coast, in a flat bottomed boat.

Wrapped up in eccentricity and charm this adventure is also a window into the world of a married couple in their 50s. The bickering, the laughs, the sandwiches, the stress all on camera warts and all.

I could watch this over and over. Also a wonderful lesson in British history.

Loved it
This series is a video diary kept by the British actor Timothy Spall of a trip he and his wife Shane took. They circumnavigated the British Isles, visiting every country, over the course of three years (taking the winters off). Their boat was a custom made Dutch barge christened The Princess Matilda, after their granddaughter. The genesis of the trip came during Tim's battle with leukemia. He resolved that if/when he survived, he and Shane would take to the sea. That's pretty much all you need to know about the plot.

I am sure Tim Spall is much better known in Britain than the U.S. I have seen him, as Winston Churchill in The King's Speech, but did not recognize him. What is striking about Tim Spall the captain of the ship, and Shane Spall his first mate, is their complete lack of affectation. They are a regular couple in their 50s who are on their dream trip. It's hard work, often fraught with anxiety and discomfort, and they love it. And they love each other,...

American Experience: Silicon Valley

Top Notch documentary
This was a fantastic documentary. I learned a great deal from it. The quality was just excellent. I've been recommending this to a lot of people at work and they also agree. There could have been a lot more done about Fairchild: I would have liked a miniseries instead of a one shot deal. I was really upset when the credits rolled and there was no more to watch.

Before Gates and Jobs came the true pioneers of computers
I got this for my dad as a Father's Day gift and he enjoyed it. Learning about the development of Silicon Valley is an interesting tale because it shows what a few brilliant people can make into a multibillion dollar industry. I like the American Experience series on PBS and this DVD is also very well done. I would recommend getting it for anyone interested in computing or our modern technological world.

Gates and Jobs Owe EVERYTHING to These Guys
So much of Tech History is focused on Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, but without the revolutionary steps in computer HW design from 1957 to 1971 neither of them would have had the computing HW available to bring computers "to the masses". This documentary covers how a crack team of bright young engineers, mathematicians, and physicists (mostly from Bell Labs) started with big clunky computers based on discrete transistors literally "wired" together, to printed circuit boards, and finally the invention of the single chip microprocessor. And all this evolution happened in just 14 years!!! Also revealed are the origins of Fairchild and INTEL (as well as dozens of famous spinoffs) as these companies were the incubators for this revolutionary new technology. A fascinating film that reveals the names of the lost heroes of the Tech revolution. Robert Noyce is not a household name like Gates and Jobs, but he should be. He was to the development of modern computing HW, what Robert Oppenheimer was...

Secrets of Highclere Castle

The castle keeps most of its secrets
This is a beautiful film, but none-the-less it left me somewhat disappointed. I had ordered it hoping to see the 95 percent or so of the castle and estate that you never see on Downton Abbey. After watching the DVD, that unseen portion has dropped to maybe 90 percent. I'm still wondering what nearly all of the rooms in that massive building look like - you only get to see a few that aren't used in the show. I wonder what relics might lie hidden in the huge, rambling attics and cavernous cellars. I speculate about the massive brick structure attached to the rear of the castle. Never saw THAT in the TV series! What the heck's in there?

I wonder if there are any hidden pasageways or secret rooms in the castle? How on earth do they heat the place and where did the power and water come from before modern utilities? What are some of today's maintenance challenges? Are there still farms on the estate? What do they grow?

Perhaps the current owners didn't want to...

A Must for Downton Fans
I saw this special when it aired on PBS this year and greatly enjoyed seeing the ins and outs of the workings of the modern day castle and hearing from it's current occupants. You are shown the rooms so familiar from the Downton Abbey series and learn the history of this beautiful estate.

Short and semi-sweet
i was disappointed in the length of this DVD - it's only about an hour long. It was interesting, but certainly not fascinating.

Sesame Street: The Best of Elmo 2

Our daughter adores it
Our daughter is 19 months old, and has a bit of an Elmo obsession. Elmo doll, Elmo shoes, and especially Elmo's songs. When we found the alphabet song with Elmo and India.Arie online, it was all she wanted to watch for about a week.

When we got tired of hitting "play again" on YouTube, we decided to download an Elmo video, and this was the one we selected. She (and we) were not disappointed. The video includes a variety of Elmo clips, but what our daughter loves is the songs. The India.Arie song mentioned is included, as well as tracks with Feist, Jason Mraz, Adam Sandler, Destiny's Child, and Goo Goo Dolls. Many of the songs are good enough that we downloaded the original songs in MP3 format for use in iTunes. Highly recommended!

A Great First Movie for Young Toddlers
Before B got introduced to Cars (Disney's evil genius), his favorite DVD was The Best of Elmo 2. It was the first movie he ever watched at the tender age of 18 months and he loved it.

And I loved this DVD. It's charming, sweet, and it features great songs from artists like Jason Mraz, Feist, and Ray Charles. It's essentially a story of how Elmo meets a new friend, Memory Bot, and helps Memory Bot get new memories by sharing his memories of his times with friends. At first B was scared of some of the songs, but he now knows all of them by heart. And I'm more than happy to watch it with him for the music and the lessons therein.

We initially were streaming some of these songs off of youtube and just bought the DVD. It's worth it as it supports Sesame Street and well, I don't have to click every 2 minutes for a new song. Of note: THIS IS NOT ELMO'S WORLD. It's much much more than that-- it's a great first movie for toddlers.

Best Elmo Movie we Own
We have watched this a million times and I catch myself singing the songs all the time. I have even caught my older nieces and nephews watch this as well

Live at Montreux 1991 [Blu-ray]

Miles And Quincy At Montreux- A long overdue B-Ray release
At long last, it's here! If you love the acoustic period of Miles Davis' career here is a concert that he recorded very late in life and (luckily) at a time when audio/video technology was very advanced. Here is the 1991 concert at the jazz festival in Montreux, Switzerland conducted by his long time friend and admirer Quincy Jones. And at this performance Miles finally relented and went back to the music that made him famous. It's Miles once again with the Gil Evans Orchestra playing from the albums Miles Ahead, Porgy & Bess and Sketches of Spain (plus Boplicity from Birth of The Cool). This blue-ray release is one I've been waiting for all these years and today I received my copy.

I bought a VHS copy of the concert six years ago and played it again yesterday. The song "Springsville" (the first song on the album "Miles Ahead") which is the second song on the VHS release of the concert is missing from the blue-ray disk and that is my one disappointment. Springsville is a...

Miles and Quincy
Owned the laserdisc since '92, knew it was recorded in Sony HDTV.
So glad its available in all its glory. Grammy winning performance.

The Legacy of Miles Davis is enhanced by this performance.
The last look at Miles Davis. The music conducted by Quincy Jones is superb and the music was on a very high level of performance. Kudos to everyone involved in this historic event. The DVD is first rate and exceptional.

Episode 7

Great to have the boys back
Fantastic to have the Top Gear UK boys back in the drivers seat! If you're a fan of the show, it looks like this season will be offering plenty more of the same thrills, spills, and immature hilarity. Their first episode out wasn't one of the best EPs I've ever encountered, but still full of the same hijinks I've come to expect from Team Top Gear. Richard finally gets his shot at the almighty (and all-new) Pagani Huayra. Insanity ensues when James May attempts to discover just how serious Bentley is with their performance claims for the new Continental, and Jeremy tries his hand (yet again) at making the driving world a better, more colorful place with the predictable results.

Sneak peek at the upcoming season and it should be a great one. Please, Amazon, put up Ep. 2 already!

The three wise men do what they do best
The Three Stooges of the Auto World keep up the high standards in their 19th series. While some may mature with age, it's clear that Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow do not and we the viewers are lucky for that.

Best Season Yet!
I am a big fan of Top Gear but, being a teenager I did get bored quickly with the old seasons. This season is fast paced and believe it or not, funnier than seasons before it! Much more off track filming. The new season feels new and modern. Fast and beautiful cars this season. Only flaw, as with many seasons before it, much less affordable street cars.

Elmo's Music Magic

Fun Music DVD for Sesame Street fans (young and old) with performances by Garth, Sugarland and even Diana Krall!
One thing that makes most Sesame Street productions - including the PBS version, now over 40 years old - is that it reaches viewers on two levels: The kids learn things (numbers, letters, counting) and the parents are treated to some great puns, satires and well-crated songs (thank you Joe Raposo!).

This 45-minute DVD is a delight and will keep adults entertained even on repeated viewings with their kids. (This from someone who has no kids.).

It revolves around Elmo findings a "magic wand" that when waved turns things in to music. If he waves it one way people sing instead of speaking and if he waves a different way voices get higher or lower, or faster or slower. There is little dialogue here but at least 14 clever songs are performed by both Muppet characters or "celebrity guests" from all genres. John Legend does "Sing a Song", Garth Brooks does a "silly" song and Sugarland and jazz singer Diana Krall get numbers too. Cookie Monster sings "Come Back Cookie"...

Cute!
I reccommend this dvd for any kids who are about to go on a long road trip. It is very edcational.

extremely boring
We were extremely disappointed with this purchase. Our 18-month old daughter LOVES The Best of Elmo 1 and 2. These DVDS are full of songs she can dance and sing to. This is mostly noise with little singing and very little Elmo. We turned it off after 15 long minutes, and will be donating it to Goodwill. Save your money and buy the Best of Elmo, especially 2!

Toriko: Part 3

Fork and Knife for Life
It's been a while since I found a truly epic and legendary anime. It is like the child of Dragon Ball Z and the Cooking channel. One of the greatest anime I have ever seen if not the best. Just watch all four trailers and you'll like what you'll see.

Loved it
This was also everything I expected my 5 & 7 yr old children can't get enough Toriko we just need more.

The most intense, action-packed "Toriko" arc yet!
The pursuit of for culinary delights continues in "Toriko: Part Three" as Toriko and Komatsu search for the "Century Soup" but unbeknownst to the group, someone powerful named Tommyrod a Sous Chef and members of the Gourmet Corps go after them.

Find out in "Toriko: Part Three" from FUNimation!

What is "Toriko"?

In Japan, we have seen Shonen Jump series that have had a long life, not just as manga but as anime series. From the "Dragon Ball" series, "One Piece", "Naruto", "Bleach" and another series that has captivated readers and viewers is "Toriko".

Created by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro in 2008, the manga series has been published on "Weekly Shonen Jump" and is currently on 22nd tankobon volume, while the anime series produced by Toei Animation is still being broadcast since 2011 on Fuji TV. And now the third part of the anime series will be released in the U.S. courtesy of FUNimation in March 2013.

13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo

How has it held up over the years?
When I was a kid, I loved to watch Scooby Doo in syndication. There was nothing better than sitting down with a bowl of cocoa puffs and waiting for that crazy dog to grace my tv screen. My favorite series? The 13 Ghost of Scooby Doo of course! It was something rare to see Cartoon Network play this particular series much though, considering there were atleast 5 other incarnations of Scooby to choose from, but when they would show it, I was ecstatic!

How has it held up over the years? Wonderfully! I just finished watching my set earlier this morning, and nostalgia has set in, and I am in awe. Let's do an episode run down.

1x01 - To All the Ghouls I've Loved Before - Scooby and his pals crash in the a creepy town where 2 ghost await their arrival.

1x02 - Scoobra Kaboobra - In this episode, the gang must face an evil warlock who is bent on discovering a magical wand to give him infinite magic.

1x03 - Me and My Shadow Demon - This particular...

Very interesting, yet very Incomplete
I was happy to get this as part of my collection. I found it interesting, yet incomplete.

Pros:
+Trying to capture the thirteen ghost of a Demon Chest was a very fascinating storyline.
+Scrappy didn't seem to try to steal the spotlight from his uncle. In fact, I didn't find him annoying at ALL.
+Scooby's parents.
+Vincent was an excellent addition to the season. I loved his episode narrations.
+Same classic humor from the original series. I did enjoy them dressing up for certain situations.
+Scooby snacks seemed to have a different effect on Scooby then usual.

Cons:
-I felt that the season was incomplete. They didn't capture all thirteen ghosts. It appeared to be only eleven of them. I felt as if the season should have ran fifteen or sixteen episodes.
-Flim Flam did gain my appeal with his sales pitches, however, trying to overpower the season really made me dislike him. He had too many plot contrivances.
-I hated the...

The Release of A Pretty Good Show!
Even though the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo maybe have not been my favorite Scooby Doo show it definetly deserved a DVD release and I'm glad to see to make it to DVD. Although this show doesn't have Velma or Fred they also got new characters along with the well known Scooby Doo, Shaggy, Scrappy, and Daphne. The new characters consists of Flim Flam and Vincent Van Ghoul who helped the gang with what the main plot consisted of.
The main plot was that they were trying to put the 13 ghosts that they had released from the Chest of Demons by accident. While trying to do this two not so intelligent ghosts Weerd and Bogel get in the way and always tried to stop the gang but never really succeeded.

There were thirteen episodes produced and are listed below.

1. To All the Ghouls I've Loved Before
2. Scoobra Kadoobra
3. Me and My Shadow Demon
4. Reflections in a Ghoulish Eye
5. That's Monstertainment

Sesame Street: Elmo's Alphabet Challenge

Really cute!
My daughter is 5 and loves this video!! She is crazy about the iPad and in this video Abby gets a new "fly pad". It has segments mimicking angry birds, guitar hero, dance revolution, Mario carts and World of Warcraft. They are angry "words", realm of elf craft, super mustachio brothers. It is hilarious. She watches it twice a day. Does a superb job of using correct phonic pronunciations for the letters in a fun way. My daughter is non verbal autistic, and she says her letters out loud now and looks back to hear you tell her that she is doing a good job. Would highly recommend for anyone with a child with language delays.

Awesome
My 18 month old loves this movie! She now knows the whole alphabet! Very educational. And very cool. It's about video games too.

My son loves this & it teaches sounds/phonics with all the letters
We checked this video out at the local library and he loved it. He was so sad when we had to take it back and none of the local stores sell it. It is a spoof on video games and changes so it keeps their interest/attention. It not only goes through the entire alphabet, it goes through some phonics and the sounds the letters make - so it is helpful for learning.

Scooby-Doo: Legend of the Phantosaur

Scooby Doo: Legend of the Phantosaur......
Scooby Doo: Legend of the Phantosaur has Scoob and the gang going on a relaxing spa getaway when they discover the Phantosaur. A dinosaur come to life to protect buried treasures deep within secret caves below. During this time, Shaggy finds his inner hero after being put under hypnosis...thing is, it puts him and the gang into some awkward circumstances. And that's where the fun begins.

This time around, folks, this original movie(the sixteenth, I believe) I didn't buy. Instead, it was purchased and given to me as a surprise cause they know I love Scoob and the gang so much.

After giving it a watch, all I can say is "Sweeeeeeet!!"...this has to be in my top five of favorite Scoob direct-to-DVD original movies. I do believe those at WB are really starting to get things right with why fans love Scoob so much because the stories just keep getting better and better. Gone are the days of, easily, figuring out the mystery at hand. Anymore, you really have to look for...

Best scooby-doo movie yet
You can already see the movie through amazon streaming. Were buying the DVD soon as it comes out. My daughter loves scooby and this one my wife and I actually liked too. It is very funny.

SD movies never disappoint
I so look forward to the annual new Scooby Doo movie and yet again I was not disappointed. I'm 36 years old and I still enjoy Scooby Doo (although I really dislike the new Mystery Inc series and not very thrilled with the live action versions). This is classic Scooby with twists and turns of unexpected revelations. I love how the stories now make you think it's over but there is still more to enjoy. I've been waiting for sometime to watch this and didn't realize it was availablle to rent. I can't wait until it comes out on dvd. I have every one of these SD movies and I can't wait to add this one. I'd like the writers to go back to the spin of real ghosts being part of the scam like in Witch's Ghost and Zombie Island. I found that making the difference between the tv shows and the movies. But the stories have always been fun no matter what. Just like other SD movies, you have to like silliness and the ridiculous otherwise it's just not for you. You can't take SD seriously...

Science

This Grows On You - Hilarious
The jokes in Ali G. interviewing various American figures are really based on the humor in these people being so detached from youth culture that they think he is possibly serious (even when asking the most ridiculous questions) and possibly really does have a show that uses hip-hop jargon to explain politics and world events to da youth. Correspondingly, most of his best interview segments happen with older people, or people from rural areas.

The actor's particulaur genuis is his ability to keep a straight face after having asked the most totally ridiculous question, or said the most ridiculous and vulgar thing, possible. No small acheievement.

The humor in the Borat character, a Middle-Eastern man visiting and touring America for his program (beamed back to Khazakstan television) is based on the duality between Borat's polite, civilized manner and the brutal misogyny and racism that lies within his mindset and his culture, which he pleasantly verbalizes in...

one of the funniest....
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Ali G during his American run on HBO last year by a friend of mine and I have to say that he is one of the funniest people in the business. He's not a stand-up comedian that somehow made the transition to his own show, he is a comedic actor, fully embracing each character he portrays and making each one funny in their own distinct way. Honestly, the time I've spent watching his show is probably the hardest i've laughed in a long time. Not only is Sacha perfect in each of his roles but whoever produces the show is a genius as well, placing the characters into awkward situations with hilarious consequences and somehow getting really famous people to be interviewed and then almost always embarassed by Ali.

To put it simply, this show utilizes every type of humor there is and does it very well, Sacha is extremely talented and funny and I promise you won't be disappointed if you give it a try.

(...).

Not for everyone, but I found it extremely funny
I am often very ambidexerous on my reviews pointing out both what I like and (on the other hand) what I do not like about a certain product. However, with Da Ali G Show, I have to un ambiguously say that I have no qualms about buying the DVD.

If you have not heard about Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen), here is the basic rundown. The show is broken down into three concepts following three personas: (1) Hip-hop British interviewer Ali G., (2) Kazikstani reporter apparently stuck in the 70's Borat, and (3) German fashion club-kid Bruno. The general M.O. is to find unsuspecting interviewees from areas ranging from entertainment to religion to politics. The interviews seem to go smoothly, lulling the interviewee into a false comfort. Then, the interviews veer into absurd directions to see how far the interviewers can be taken off course before pulling the plug. Granted, the concept does not sound all that interesting, the execution is brilliant.

The result is getting...

Scooby-Doo: 13 Spooky Tales Around the World

Yes, Some NEW-to-DVD Scooby-Doo Episodes, But...
Well, first to clarify the number of episodes on this set. Even though they advertise 13 episodes (6 of which are NEW-to-DVD), there's really only 11 and 1/3rd half-hour shows (4 and 1/3rd of which are NEW-to-DVD). And all the NEW stuff is on Disc 2. For those of you who are trying to piece-meal together all the remaining Scooby-Doo episodes on DVD, here are the specifics of what's new and what's not:

Disc 1:

1. The Fiesta Host is an Aztek Ghost - originally aired during the 1976-1977 Season of The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour - The Complete Series. Complete half-hour of "The Scooby-Doo Show" syndicated version.

2. The Harum-Scarum Sanitarium - originally aired during the 1976-1977 Season of The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour - The Complete Series. Complete half-hour of "The Scooby-Doo Show" syndicated version...

New Releases! Finally!
After waiting for brand new releases of more Scooby episodes, I was initially excited when I found out this particular DVD included at least five previously unreleased adventures, some from 'The Scooby-Doo Show' (formerly apart of 'Scooby's All-Star Laff-a-Lympics'), and some from 'Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo' (the original series, the Richie Rich episodes from season two, and 'The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries', from season six). Here's a breakdown:

DISC ONE:
1. The Fiesta Host is an Aztec Ghost (Mexico)
2. The Harum-Scarum Sanitarium (Canada)
3. The Spirits of '76 (Washington, D.C.)
4. A Creepy Tangle in the Bermuda Triangle (Atlantic Ocean)
5. To Switch a Witch (Salem, Massachusetts)
6. A Menace in Venice (Italy)

DISC TWO:
7. Shiver and Shake, That Demon's a Snake! (Florida Keys)
8. Lock the Door, It's a Minotaur! (Greece)
9. The Ozark Witch Switch (Ozark Mountains, US)
10. Jeepers, It's the Jaguaro...

Great episodes new to DVD!!!!
The episodes selected for this compilation are great!!!! and it was especially refreshing to finally see episodes from the first season of "Scooby and Scrappy-Doo" on DVD!!! I do hope that Warner Bros. releases the first season of Scooby & Scrappy in the near future. All in all, this is a must-have for every Scooby-Doo and/or Hanna-Barbera classic animation fan!!!

Scooby-Doo & The Circus Monsters

Nothing to See Here

Bedlam in the Big Top--Big Top Scooby-Doo/Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? The Complete First and Second Seasons
The Ghouliest Show on Earth--Big Top Scooby-Doo/The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo: The Complete Series
A Terrifying Round with a Menacing Metallic Clown--What's New, Scooby-Doo: The Complete 3rd Season/What's New, Scooby-Doo?, Volume 10: Monstrous Trails

This is a rip-off. It's not worth the DVD the shows are burned onto.

A clown-centered sampler of Scooby-Doo
This DVD is three episodes of three different Scooby-Doo series; the original, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, and What's New, Scooby-Doo. If you're a collector, and already own the seasons, there's no reason to buy this (unless you're the really complete collector, then that's your own problem.) Judged on their own merits, they're fun episodes, with the first and the last filled with all the fake monsters we expected. (The 13 Ghosts has actual supernatural and lacks Velma, two strikes in my book.)

So don't pick it up if you have to have everything, but if you want a sample of three episodes, it's a perfect package.

My son Loves Scooby Doo and these were for him!

Katy Perry the Movie: Part of Me

Made me cry!
Even though I love Katy Perry's music, I didn't expect to love her movie. There's a big difference between enjoying a five minute song and watching a two-hour movie. I only saw the movie because my two daughters wanted to see it.

As it turns out, I really loved the movie. Viewers get a unique glimpse not only into Katy's current pop star lifestyle and concert tour madness, but also into her struggle to get a music label in the first place as well as her efforts to hold together a failing marriage.

But the reason I really ended up loving this movie is because Katy the person (not Katy the pop star) really appears to be genuinely sweet and likeable. I loved seeing her interact with her siblings, her friends, her fans, her evangelist parents, and even her adorable grandmother. Katy's "realness" really touched my heart . . . and even watered my eyes more than once.

This is a touching movie about a charming girl!

The Pied Piper of Genuineness
"Katy Perry Part of Me" is a rare and unique glimpse into the life, childhood, upbringing, ups and down and tag along journey for the concert tour of a lifetime for Katy Perry. In the capable hands of producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, this isn't just your ordinary run-of-the-mill documentary/concert video, this is a story and a behind the scenes insight like I've never seen before.

A few things grabbed me as the movie starts with the preparation of her monster first world tour. They start with the setup for her first concert and her associating with her crew, dancers and staff before going into the opening number. She treats the people around her like gold. The people she hires to do her costumes, makeup, manage her schedule and organize her life aren't industry people. They are her friends. They were ordinary, run-of-the-mill people who Katy worked with when she was a nobody and she kept them. She loves them, and they love her and that is the nuts and bolts of "Part...

Fun but brand management-y
This is a fun movie. With a lavish concert in 3D plus the colorful personality of Katy Perry, it'd be hard to accuse this movie of being boring. It will certainly appeal to Katy's fans, and it will also appeal to non-fans for a peek at the life of one of the biggest musical celebrities since Michael Jackson.

The lead producer is Brian Grazer, who is one of the most prolific and successful producers of dramatic thrillers (The Da Vinci Code, American Gangster, Robin Hood, 24, Tower Heist, Cowboys & Aliens, etc.). I'm guessing that Katy picked him primarily because of his work on Eminem's "8 Mile."

I am calling this a "movie" instead of a "documentary" because Katy Perry is one of the producers, which means that it cannot honestly claim to be impartial or unbiased. Boxoffice Magazine criticized the movie for that reason, saying, "this supposedly honest behind-the-scenes look at Perry's 2011 world tour often feels more like sharp brand management." What's...

Educational and Fun Show For Kids
I wish this was around when I was in school. I love the quick and easy episodes that teach kids to think, rationalize, solve and put into play ideas and suggestions that will put them on the road to a good financial foundation.

We also love that each character is so very unique and instills that education and being smart isn't something to be embarrassed about but something kids should be proud of. These kids are smart and proactive. They care about their community and they make a difference.

Plus, you and your kids get a quick business tip from Warren Buffet in every episode. Watch with your kids. You just may learn something!

Scooby-Doo Pirates Ahoy

Scooby Doo on the Seven Seas
Okay, I will completely admit that even as I approach the ripe, ol' age of 33, I've never let the little kid in me grow up. I'm still a huge Scooby fan who has every Scooby DVD out there and I still watch Scooby and the gang on a regular basis. So I was really stoked to hear that a new movie was coming out and scooped up a copy over the weekend.

Now that I've watched it, I can honestly say it's a pretty good Scooby flick, however adults who can't enjoy kid-friendly entertainment shouldn't apply. Pirates Ahoy sticks to the 'old' Scooby format of finding clues, setting traps and unmasking villains.

It was nice to see Fred's parents folded into the story line. Other than A Pup Named Scooby Doo, I don't ever remember seeing them in the regular shows. There aren't very many plot twists in Pirates Ahoy and the ones that do occur seem a little odd...like when the Billionaire with the Jet Pack lands on the ship...however none of them really detract from the story...

The Scooby Doo Animated Movies
Scooby-Doo in Pirates Ahoy! is the silliest of the ten animated Scooby movies that I'm aware of since 1999. They're all pretty silly...deliberately...but they are usually quite entertaining--if not captivating--to children 3+...okay, and me too.

In an unofficial poll taken of my own kids ages 3 through 7, the results are in and Pirates is at the bottom. Here's the list, according to the experts, of the Scooby Doo animated movies that we...I mean...THEY liked the best:

1-Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost (1999)
2-Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998)
3-Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders (2000)
4-Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase (2001)
5-Scooby-Doo and the Legend of the Vampire (2003)
6-Scooby-Doo and the Monster of Mexico (2003)
7-Aloha, Scooby-Doo (2005)
8-Scooby-Doo and the Loch Ness Monster (2004)
9-Scooby Doo in Where's My Mummy? (2005)
10-Scooby-Doo in Pirates Ahoy! (2006)

With the exceptions being switches of...

Scooby Doo is still the best
I am 34 and still love watching Scooby Doo. I love this one. It is definetly a keeper. It was nice to see Freddie's parents. The mystery cruise was a good idea. Scoopy and Shaggy thought they were getting a vacation. Once again no-way. I recommend any Scooby Doo fan to buy this movie. It is one I will watch over and over again. The graphics are great and the story line is fun.

Elmo's Potty Time

Funny and Helpful
We decided to let my 21 month old daughter watch this prior to hard core potty training so that she would become at ease with the subject. It has certainly helped.

I was really surprised to read some of the bad reviews. For one, Elmo's Dad does NOT sound like Chef from Southpark. And if he was voiced by Issac Hayes, that would have been great too! His voice brings back fond memories of School House Rock (think "I'm Just A Bill"). If it was intentional, it was genious as his character felt nostalgic to me even though I had never seen him before. Next, there is a segment in which kids yell out what they call poop and pee. It's funny. One of the reviewers was offended but I feel that if my daughter sees big kids and Elmo speaking so comfortably about poop and pee, then it minimizes the stigma and will make her more comfortable about it all. I think that being uptight about poop and pee makes you, well...constipated. And that is counter-productive.

OK, so, the songs...

LIGHTEN UP, PARENTS!
I am a 25 year old mother of a 17 month old boy and we absolutely LOVE this video! We are in the very early stages of potty training, and since my son adores all Sesame Street characters, I thought this would be a good supplement to the training that his father and I give him. I have to say that most parents are right to say that there is not a lot of actual "potty footage," but I think that this video is more of a tool to encourage toddlers instead of a graphic "how-to" guide--isn't that our job? The content presented here is highly positive words from Muppets that apparently potty like pros. They discuss wearing diapers, listening to your body, having accidents, and of course, wiping, flushing and washing up. There are segments that do not relate directly to using the potty, but the moral of those clips, I think, is that "it takes time, but you can do anything with practice." I also really appreciate the fact that Elmo's dad is the parent in the show that talks about training...

Excellent for Potty Training
My 3 1/2 year old daughter had no interest in using the potty and we tried everything. I purchased this video and it arrived at my house on a Saturday morning. After watching the video my daughter announced that she wanted to put underwear on and she then used the potty for the first time that same day!!! She's been in underwear during the day every day since then and uses the potty consistently.

I highly recommend this video to any parent having a hard time with potty training. Kids can relate to the characters they know and they make it easy for kids to understand.

The best $[...] I spent by far!

Les Miserables

Depardieu and Malkovich.... Powerful Performances
This review refers to "Les Miserables" (region 2 edition)

This 4 part production of "Les Miserable", that was televised, is magnificent. It is the best I have seen. Gerard Depardieu was absolutlely Jean Valjean, the ex-convict who suffers and sacrifices on his journey to redemption. Javert, the lawman intent on the capture of Valjean, comes alive in the form of one John Malkovich. It is directed by Josée Dayan, and Valjean's feelings towards Cosette a more obvious romantic take. My French is limited, but I had no trouble getting swept away to the time, the place, the events, and with every emotion portrayed exquisitly by these intense actors. Charlotte Gainsbourg as Fantine, Virginie Ledoyen as Cosette, Christian Clavier and Veronica Ferres, as M. and Mme Thenardier, and Enrico Lo Verso as Marius add their remarkable portrayals as well.

The DVD is formatted for Region 2 viewers.Check with the sellers for languages, subtitles and features. I have the...

THE BEST VERSION OF THE MASTERPIECE OF VICTOR HUGO
I have seen this mini-serie on HBO, in my country, Brazil and I have LOVED it! I have readen Victor Hugo's Les Miserables several times and I have seen almost all the movie-screen versions of this romance and I can assure all that it is the best one! First, it follows the twists and turns of the book with almost meticulous details. Second, Gérard Depardieu is the PERFECT Jean Valjean, almost to the bones of his crooked nose and slightly hunched back (read his description in Victor Hugo's book!) Liam Neeson is too elegant and too handsome to fit this description!!! Third, as Les Miserables comes, longer is better, because there is so much to tell, so many nuances that the shorter versions do not show! And I would go on and on because that is one of my favorite books and this movie is my favorite version. A plus: John Malkovich as Inspector Javert is ousttanding and Christian Clavier as Thénardier oh, that is a trio you will not easily forget. Another movie made by the...

Roseanne: The Complete Eighth Season

Everything starts to come apart this season
Season eight of Roseanne is the one where everything finally began to truly come apart. This is not to say there aren't some good episodes, but you have to really pick through episodes full of fantasy, inane slapstick, and politically correct undertones to get to the truly good blue collar slice-of-life episodes that made up the majority of episodes in prior years. WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD.

The season opener, "Shower the People You Love with Stuff", very unceremoniously returns Lecy Gorenson as Becky Conner Healy, with Roseanne taking advantage of the sudden replacement with an inside joke by remarking that it seems like Becky's been gone for four years - exactly how long Lecy Gorenson has been gone from the show. The end of the show makes fun of the switch of actresses playing Becky even more with a clever imitation of the opening theme song of 60's series "The Patty Duke Show" in which Patty Duke played twin cousins. It is a good opener to the season, but it is not...

Cut up again?
I thought "Complete Season" meant just that, COMPLETE! Why are we still getting butchered versions that we can see on TV? First episode they cut the whole ending off. No Patty Duke Show ending? They play that part on Nick at Nite! Then on the Direct to Video episode they cut a theme song that ruins the entire joke. The family is watching TV while Roseanne is out of the room and Dan says "You know, this was the 'Friends' of the 70's". The joke doesn't work on the DVD because it is not the theme song they originally played. They played the Three's Company theme song and on the DVD it is some generic 70's sounding song with no lyrics. How much could it possibly cost to get the rights to use a couple of seconds of an old TV theme song? I know these companies can afford it. Speaking of money, I'm sick of paying $25 or more for butchered TV shows I can see on regular TV. If this had been uncut I would have given it 4 stars but cut up only gets a 2 star rating. Although there...

I WANT MY MONEY BACK!
I thought the package says "The COMPLETE 8TH Seaon"

Its all edited!!!
RIP OFF!!!!!!

Well I have been a HUGE HUGE HUGE Roseanne fan since the very begginging. I actually remember being 17 years old and sitting on the floor and seeing the pilot.
So naturally I was thrilled beyond belief when they came to DVD. The first season DVD was totally flawed as the episodes were cut. I heard it was the fault Anchor Bay. Well here is season 8 all totally cut!!!! I am a HUGE fan of this show, and still am and always will be, but today I buy the season 8 DVD and find the first episode, "Shower the People You LOve With Stuff" RUINED!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the ending tag with Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke (the two Beckys) doing the Patty Duke gag! OMG I thought that was classic! I actually couldnt breath when I first saw it, I laughed so hard! And was so exited to see it here, but I see its been CUT all we get for our money is a black screen and credits... That...

Realize

Offensively hilarious, more socially important than it gets credit for
Mr. Cohen has received all kinds of accolades for his three stunningly vivid personas: Ali G, Borat, and Bruno.

But aside from the ultra-offensive and seemingly obvious ignorance lay some great social commentary. Through his characters, Cohen is able to expose the still present social bigotries of this country that so many argue went away with civil rights, but that are still so firmly rooted at the core of this nation. A Cambridge graduate, and Jew, Cohen is most impressive as Borat, the anti-Jewish video journalist from Kazakhstan. In this guise he offers up some of the most ridiculously awkward moments, and shines the darkest of lights on "The U, S, and A". As disturbing as it is hilarious is the Borat-led country song, "Throw the Jew Down the Well" in which a slew of stereotypically deep country town folk join in emphatically by the song's final chorus.

This is just a taste of the type of humor/commentary you will find in this great collection (as well as...

So Funny It Hurts
Make sure you get the joke before watching these shows: Ali G isn't a real person. Neither are Borat and Bruno. They're all the same guy--and he's a comic genius!

Most of the friends I've turned on to Ali G said before they figured it out, "I thought that idiot was for real, like the ones on MTV."

No. It's a joke. And a great one.

Watching the First Season, I focused on the celebrity and political interviews (Ali G was lucky Buzz Aldrin didn't deck him for calling him Buzz Lightyear), but in the Second Season I was howling at the other segments. Borat buying a house ("Where is the cage for my wife?") and then later leading a drunken barroom filled with rednecks singing the Kazakistan song "Throw the Jew Down the Well" were hysterically funny.

And how did he stay in character after downing so much wine at a Texas wine tasting?

"Me and my sister, we make little joke!"

(I'll let you find out what that joke was)...

Joyous Beyond Belief
I defy anyone to try and describe Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Ali G., Borat and Bruno and not use the word "genius". It just can't be done. Every so often you stumble upon something or someone who is so unique (or just does the format so much better than it's ever been done before) that you know you are witnessing something you will never see again.

Mr. Cohen interviews people (most are well known) as one of his alter egos. As Ali G. (the hiphop wannabe who still lives with his grandmother - try to imagine a British Kevin Federline with no Britney money) his questions are beyond stupid, as Borat the reporter from Khazakhstan his questions are in-your-face offensive, racist, and sexist but somehow we Americans are more forgiving to this strange man from a country most have never heard of, and last but not least, Bruno, the gayest piece of Eurotrash there ever was.

We are treated to interview after interview from Pat Buchanan to Andy Rooney to real estate agents to a...

That '70s Show: Season Seven

Not as good as it used to be
I still enjoy watching this show and will certainly buy this set for my collection, but I should say that this season is by far not the best. For anyone who is new to the show: buy either season 1,2 or 3. Those episodes were hilarious!
After having been on the air for so many years, one just can't expect That '70s Show to still have fresh ideas all the time.
The plotlines really are less interesting and significant this time around. All of the characters are grown up now and they lack the on-screen chemistry they used to have.
However- It is still worth purchasing, for the fans, because it's the last season with the entire cast still intact before Eric and Kelso leave in Season 8.

A decent season
This is a good season. Some of the episodes were very funny and bringing back chong and was a good move for the show. This should have been the last season though. There is no way that the remaining characters could have continued the show on their own. It would have been a different story if they added some strong characters but bringing in randy was a mistake. I think this is the season where Wilmer(Fez) starts to lose his ability to deliver lines.

ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER!!
That 70s Show is quite possibly one of the greatest sitcoms fox ever produced. Season 7 is just another hilarious ventures into the 70s. Donna dyes her hai blonde and looks finer than ever and she and Eric are past the whole lets get married phase and the gang is back to their old antics and new ones. This probably should have been the last season, but the show was still very strong with plenty of laughs.
